Chateau Beauregard

Chateau Beauregard, Pouilly-Fuisse | Burgundy, France

The Burrier family has been living in the south of Burgundy for 500 years, and has owned Château de Beauregard for six generations. The name “Beauregard,” meaning nice view, comes from the beautiful sight one enjoys from the estate which lies isolated in the middle of the vineyards, on the rocky cliffs of Solutré and Vergisson, and on the villages of Pouilly and Fuissé.

Grape variety: Chardonnay 100% – Average age of the vines: 30 years. The vineyard is managed to promote microbial life in the soil, to encourage deep rooting of the vines. Strict control of the yields; culture respectful of the environment; ploughing; 100% hand picked. They try to get a good balance between initial seduction and ageing potential. The best moment to drink the wine depends on the natural acidity of the vintage. The young wines evoke white fruits (pear, peach, etc.), and white flowers (acacia). The wine is fresh, mineral and balanced with a honey and grapefruit finish. Getting older, the aromas become more complex and dense, a little buttery, toasted and dry fruit hints, with still this honeyed unctuousness.
